Scoil Mhuire Kilvemnon is the first school in Co. Tipperary to receive the Digital Schools Award.
What is a Digital School?
The Digital Schools Award is a new initiative that aims to recognise excellence in a school's approach to the integration of ICT in learning and teaching. The Digital Schools Award was launched by Minister Mary Hanafin, T.D., at Scoil an Chroí Ró Naofa, Killinarden, Tallaght on Friday, 10th February 2005. This award aims to build on the excellent progress already made by schools in relation to ICT
To achieve a Digital Schools Award, each participating school must fulfill identified which will be applied as part of the validation process. There are thirty-nine criteria in all, fourteen of which are essential. The criteria are organised under the following headings:
· Leadership & Vision
· ICT in the Curriculum
· School ICT Culture
· Professional Development
· Resources & Infrastructure
