The Salmon of Knowledge
In 2005 we visited Cloneen Hall to see Clan Cluana Theatre Group perform Young Fionn MacCumhal and the Salmon of Knowledge. It was absolutley brilliant and we learned loads about Fionn and the Fianna.

The baby Fionn was taken to safety in the Slievebloom mountains by his nurse Bodhmall after his fathe Cumhal had been killed by Goll MacMorna.
As he grew up he had many adventures and met many people like Brian the poet, Fiacil the Thief, the Kings of Carraighe and Fionntrigh and his Uncle Crimall.
He tastes the Salmon of Knowledge, to the dismay of Finnegas and reclaims his birthright after his encounter with Conn of the Hundred Battles.

Setanta

In 2006 we went to see Clan Cluanna Theatre Company perform Setanta.
This is their 13th production.

This story begins with the marriage of Dectire to Sualtim and the birth of Setanta in Dún Dealgan. He is cared for and educated there by Dethcaen, a nurse and druid. Setanta's childhood was not a happy one and we see how he bravely learns to overcome his many trials and tribulations.
Setanta finally leaves Dun Dealgan and sets out on the road to Emain Macha where he hopes he will meet Conor Mac Nessa. After a lonely and often dangerous journey he finally arrives at Emhain Macha. There Conor proclaims him as his foster son and he joins the Macra. The play finishes when Setanta kills the hound of Culann and becomes 'Cúchaillainn'.
