The Cork Pops Orchestra
takes place in Cork every year.

We travelled there in 2004. It was brilliant day. We got to play our tin whistles with the Orchestra and watched the funny gorilla play the cello!

Entitled “Spotlight on Evelyn Grant the Cork Pops Orchestra”, the concert places the ‘spotlight’ on individual instruments of the orchestra; and on specific aspects of the curriculum, namely – solfa; rhythm; singing; whistle-playing; improvisation; music/movement and form.
This hugely successful series is now in it’s 23rd year. The concert is designed to support the New Primary School Music Curriculum.
Music featured ranges from Haydn and Mozart to Strauss and Disney, with the ‘Chiquita Banana’ song included especially for the orchestra’s ’cello-playing Gorilla.
