Read this article about Angela Dunne:
A graduate of Mary Immaculate College is the new President of the Irish National Teachers Organisation (INTO). Angela Dunne, a native of Shanagolden, Co. Limerick is a Learning Support Teacher in Ballinabranna National school, Carlow and the 107th President of the organisation.
Angela has been involved with the INTO for over forty years and was INTO Vice-President for 2006/2007. Previous to that she represented District X on the CEC for ten years covering Carlow, Wexford, Kilkenny, Laois and part of Wicklow. Angela’s main priorities as INTO President are class size, underfunding for primary schools and the workload of teaching principals. She hopes to convince Minister Mary Hanafin that working principles need one day off per week to complete their administrative duties.
Having two profoundly deaf sons, Angela has a very strong interest in special education with a particular emphasis on Deaf education. She is very supportive of recent improvements in special education provisions but believes more work needs to be done and welcomes further investigation of dual enrolment by the minister.
At the Kilvemnon 6 class graduation Mrs. Dunne spoke of the challenges and adventures that lay ahead of the five students as they embarked on their journey to Secondary School. She praised Scoil Mhuire and their staff for the solid education that they imparted to these students during their years in Kilvemnon and she wished them the best for the future. Principal, Teckie Brett congratulated the students on their many achievements in primary school especially their sporting and filming achievements. All five members of the class made their Confirmation with Archbishop Clifford this year and were instrumental in the production of the award winning Jakers film last year. Well done to all and we hope that they will continue to reach their potential in the years to come.
