Something Fishy Project:
In 2006/07 the Senior Room was involved with the Something Fishy Project under the Regional Fisheries Board. As part of the Project we were visited by Joe Dunphy from Kilkenny who taught us all about the life cycle of the Salmon.

He showed us his fishing equipment and talked to us about experiences of fishing over the years. We were all very interested as we have lots of budding fishermen and women in our class.

As part of this project we also explored the local river habitat of the Anner which flows near the school. We got to catch some trout and even got to touch them in the bucket. We learned that it is very important to wet our hands before touching them so as not to damage the fish.

We also learned about water pollution prevention and especially about water conservation.
We learned that it is very important not to pollute our water supply as the water that is in the world is recycled in the water cycle.
This links in with the Green Schools Project.
We are applying for our first Green Flag in 2007/08.
