The Witches of Slievenamon

Read this report that appeared in The South Tipp Today and the Nationalist newspapers:

Congratulations to Scoil Mhuire, Kilvemnon whose variety concert took place in Knocknagow community hall in Mullinahone on Friday 16th of March. Children from Junior Infants to 6th class took part in a night of music, drama, poetry and dance . The highlight of the evening was Snow White and the 13 Little People by the Junior Room and The Witches of Slievenamon, an original play written by the Senior Room . This play was adapted from a short story written by Lady Jane Wilde, (mother of Oscar) concerning the mysterious goings on at the woods near Carraigmoclear . All students shone in a mixture of roles showcasing their musical and theatrical talents!

Following the play's success the Senior Room decided to adapt the script to create a film. They used Comic Life on the IMac to create a storyboard. Each member of the class had a job and we went to the beautiful 'Old House' in Ballycullen to film.

On the day of filming we were lucky enough to get a tour of the premises in Croc an Óir and a history lesson from John Bermingham about old farm tools. He even showed us a book that detailed people who had worked on teh farm years ago. Some people in the class read about their grandparents and relatives in this book!

We spent a very enjoyable day in the old house filming. We also went to the 'Spout' and to Carraigmoclear woods to film some scenes at night!
